About the Gear

Keep Your Cool. Carry the Adventure.

Great days outdoors deserve more than a cooler that's difficult to carry. The Balise Backcountry Class™ Backpack Cooler by Cordova Outdoors combines the convenience of a backpack with the durability and insulation of a premium portable cooler, making it easier to bring chilled drinks, fresh food, and everyday essentials wherever the journey takes you.

Designed with a streamlined profile and rugged materials, this 24-can cooler features a durable 840D ballistic nylon exterior, two inches of hard-cell insulation, and a watertight main compartment. Padded shoulder straps, a chest strap, and multiple grab handles make it comfortable and practical to transport from the trailhead to the shoreline.

Whether you're spending the afternoon at the beach, heading out on a fishing trip, or enjoying a weekend camping adventure, the Balise Backpack Cooler helps keep refreshments close without tying up your hands.

Built for the Backcountry. Ready for Everywhere.

Carrying a traditional cooler across uneven ground, sandy beaches, or long stretches of parking lot can quickly become a chore. The Balise Backcountry Class™ Cooler replaces the awkward one-handed carry with a comfortable backpack-style design, leaving your hands free for other gear.

Its durable shell and insulated compartment are built around a simple purpose: keeping chilled provisions protected and accessible while you're on the move. Thoughtful features such as the chest strap, exterior pockets, and multiple grab handles make it equally useful for spontaneous day trips and carefully planned adventures.

From paddleboarding excursions and lakeside afternoons to camping trips and outdoor sporting events, this cooler is designed to go where ordinary coolers become inconvenient.

Care, Use & Setup

1. Pre-Chill Your Cooler

For the best cooling performance, place ice packs or bagged ice inside the cooler before packing. Pre-chilling your beverages and food can help maintain lower temperatures for longer.

2. Pack Your Food & Drinks

Load the insulated main compartment with chilled beverages, snacks, or food. Distribute heavier items evenly and place frequently needed items near the top for convenient access.

3. Secure the Main Compartment

Close the watertight zipper completely to help maintain insulation and reduce the risk of leaks. Avoid overpacking, which can interfere with proper zipper closure.

4. Adjust the Backpack Straps

Position the cooler comfortably against your back and adjust the padded shoulder straps. Secure the chest strap for additional stability when walking across uneven terrain.

5. Use the Exterior Pockets

Store smaller essentials in the top and front zippered pockets. Keep moisture-sensitive belongings protected separately, particularly when traveling near water.

6. Clean and Dry After Use

Remove remaining ice, food, and beverages after each outing. Wipe the interior and exterior with mild soap and water as appropriate, then allow the cooler to dry completely before storing.

Outdoor Tip: Use reusable frozen ice packs or properly sealed ice bags when possible. Keep perishable food at or below 40°F (4°C), checking with a thermometer rather than relying solely on how cold the cooler feels.
