About the Gear

Built for the Miles Beyond Daylight

Trail running demands equipment that moves naturally with your body, performs consistently under changing conditions, and doesn't distract you from the terrain ahead. The Fenix HM62-T Lightweight Trail Running Headlamp was designed with those priorities in mind, combining powerful illumination, a lightweight magnesium alloy housing, and an innovative adjustable headband for outdoor athletes who refuse to let sunset determine when their adventures end.

Delivering up to 1,200 lumens of warm white illumination with a maximum beam distance of 492 feet (150 meters), the HM62-T provides the visibility needed to navigate uneven trails, identify obstacles, and maintain awareness of the path ahead. Four white-light brightness settings allow you to balance illumination and battery life, while dedicated red-light and red-flashing modes provide additional versatility for campsite tasks and low-light situations.

One of the HM62-T's defining features is its magnesium alloy construction, which offers excellent strength while weighing approximately 30% less than comparable aluminum material. The complete headlamp weighs just 4.41 ounces (125 grams), including its battery and headband, making it a practical choice for long-distance running, hiking, and extended outdoor activities where equipment weight matters.

Comfort and stability are equally important. The patented SPORT Headband Fit System features a perforated, breathable strap and a rotary adjustment dial that allows quick, one-handed adjustments. Whether you're climbing a steep incline, descending technical terrain, or transitioning between running and walking, the headband can be tightened or loosened without interrupting your movement.

An integrated emergency whistle provides an additional safety feature, while the oversized side switch makes lighting adjustments straightforward, even when wearing gloves. Electronic lockout helps prevent accidental activation when the headlamp is packed away.

The included 3,400 mAh rechargeable 18650 battery features its own USB-C charging port, allowing you to remove the battery and recharge it directly. The HM62-T can also operate using two compatible CR123A batteries, providing an alternative power option when recharging isn't practical.

With IP68-rated protection, 2-meter impact resistance, and a maximum advertised runtime of 280 hours on its lowest setting, the HM62-T is designed to handle demanding outdoor environments.

From early-morning training sessions and technical trail runs to overnight hikes and remote camping adventures, the Fenix HM62-T brings dependable illumination to the miles that take you beyond daylight.

Lightweight Performance for Demanding Trails

Every ounce matters when you're covering long distances. The HM62-T's magnesium alloy body reduces unnecessary material weight without sacrificing the durability expected from serious outdoor equipment. Its compact profile and balanced design help keep the lamp stable during movement, while the breathable headband provides a secure fit without requiring constant adjustment.

The rotary adjustment system is particularly useful for trail runners. Instead of stopping to reposition a traditional elastic strap, you can make quick adjustments with one hand, adapting the fit as your pace, terrain, or clothing changes.

Lighting That Adapts to the Terrain

Not every section of a trail requires maximum brightness. Technical descents and unfamiliar terrain may benefit from stronger illumination, while established paths and slower sections often allow you to conserve battery power with lower settings.

The HM62-T offers four white-light brightness levels, making it easier to balance visibility and endurance. Its warm white beam, with a color temperature of approximately 4500–5000K, provides a more neutral, less blue-toned appearance than many cool-white flashlights.

Dedicated red-light modes add versatility for reading maps, organizing equipment, or moving around camp without relying on bright white illumination. Red light can help reduce disruption to dark adaptation when used at low intensity, although it doesn't eliminate the effects of light exposure entirely.

Prepared for the Unexpected

Outdoor adventures don't always follow the original plan. A delayed return, changing weather, or unexpected trail conditions can quickly make dependable lighting essential.

The HM62-T's replaceable battery, alternative CR123A compatibility, integrated whistle, and durable weather-resistant construction make it a thoughtful addition to an outdoor preparedness kit. Electronic lockout also helps preserve battery power by preventing accidental activation inside a pack.

For runners, hikers, and explorers who value practical equipment designed around real movement, the Fenix HM62-T delivers a compelling combination of performance, comfort, and reliability.

Care, Use & Setup

Charge the Battery

Remove the included rechargeable battery from the headlamp and connect a USB-C charging cable directly to the battery's charging port. The battery indicator displays red while charging and blue when fully charged. Reinstall the battery according to the polarity markings and securely close the battery compartment.

Adjust the Headband

Position the headlamp comfortably on your forehead. Use the rotary adjustment dial to tighten or loosen the SPORT headband until it feels secure without excessive pressure.

Turn the Headlamp On

Press and hold the side switch for approximately 0.5 seconds to activate the white-light mode. Press and hold again to switch the lamp off.

Select a Brightness Level

With white light activated, press the switch briefly to cycle through Low, Medium, High, and Turbo.

Use Red-Light Mode

With the headlamp switched off, double-click the switch to activate red light. Press the switch briefly to alternate between constant red illumination and red flashing.

Activate Electronic Lockout

With the headlamp switched off, press and hold the switch for approximately three seconds until the lamp flashes four times. Repeat the three-second press to unlock.

Manage Battery Life

Choose the lowest suitable brightness setting for your activity. Maximum runtime figures apply to the lowest brightness mode; higher settings consume substantially more power.

After Use

Clean the exterior with a soft cloth, inspect the battery compartment and seals, and recharge the battery as needed. Store the headlamp in a cool, dry location and follow the manufacturer's battery-storage guidance.
