About the Book

Tight Hip, Twisted Core focuses particularly on the iliacus, a deep hip flexor that works closely with the psoas and plays an important role in movement and positioning of the pelvis.

Christine Koth explains how to identify possible iliacus tightness, why the muscle can become tense and how it may influence movement and muscular tension elsewhere in the body.

Readers will explore:

  • The function of the iliacus and its relationship with the psoas

  • Why the iliacus can become tight

  • How deep hip tension can influence movement patterns

  • Techniques for releasing muscular tension

  • Strategies for improving alignment and movement

  • Ways to help prevent recurring tightness

The book combines Koth's clinical experience with practical instruction, giving readers a better understanding of the reasoning behind the techniques used throughout the Aletha Health approach to mobility and muscle release.

About the Author

Christine Annie (Koth), MPT is a licensed physical therapist, author, biomechanist, inventor and founder of Aletha Health.

With more than 25 years of physical therapy experience, Koth's work has focused extensively on muscular tension and the deeper muscles that can be difficult for people to reach through conventional stretching, foam rolling and other self-care techniques. Her clinical experience ultimately led her to develop Aletha Health's approach and tools for targeted muscle release.

Tight Hip, Twisted Core brings much of that experience together, providing readers with a deeper understanding of the iliacus, hip flexors and the relationship between muscular tension, alignment and movement.
